Hello,

I try to create a mesh of an inlet in Blue Kenue and prepared all my data for this with Qgis. As soon as I export my raster/grid with the information of depth I can not use it in Blue Kenue. I tried .xyz and .asc. I always get an error for the .asc file which are the following:
For the .asc file
Reading File header...
ERROR: Unknown or Invalid file format:
while looking for keyword: ncols

Regarding the .xyz file I do not get an error, but the covered area is too small and it seems like there is data getting lost during importing.

I export the layer from Qgis with Raster->Conversion->Translate.

What could I change?

Thanks in advance.

Hi
Did you look the xyz file?
You could check the number of line and compare with the raster size and with the imported data in BK...
About the asc problem, have a look into the BK manual to be sure of the real configuration of this file. I remember I used it in the past without problems...

Hej,

I checked the .xyz file in gedit. What I can see are three columns one are the x values one the y values and the other one the z values. That is fine so far but it does not explain why it get's cut off.
I will check on the manual regarding the .asc file.

Did you check the number of lines in the xyz file?

Yes but how can I see if data is lost? The document has 2508222 lines.
Where can I find the Blue Kenue Manuel it it not in my Wine folder of Blue Kenue where it should be.

manual is available in BK (help menu)
what is the size of your raster in Qgis?
How many nodes could you see in BK?
Compare to the 2 508 222 nodes you have in your file...

They are the same but still there is some part missing.
What would be the proper way to export a grid from Qgis to a .asc file that it works in BK. Tried to do it via Raster->Conversion->Translate as well as GDAL Translate tool, both options does not work for BK.

Maybe some points are superposed due to some rounding problems with large coordinates...

Hi,

I just like to write this here is somebody else will face this problem in future.

I could find the problem. It seems like ArcGIS sets nodata values to -9999 and QGis has to option to write "no data". Blue Kenue seem not to accept "no data". I changed my nodata values to -9999 and everything went fine.
