TOPIC: Bad mesh representation in 20 cm resolution

Bad mesh representation in 20 cm resolution 1 year 10 months ago #40551

Hi,

I want to do a very high resoluted simulation with a discretization of 20cm over a roughly 4000m2 domain.
It seems like BlueKenue does not display the mesh accurately and picking nodes oder elements is nearly impossible. When viewing the mesh e.g. in *.2dm format in SMS, it is represented correctly.

Is there any limit BlueKenue can represent the mesh or can the program properties be adjusted to overcome the problem?
I added a mesh where the problem can be seen and also a screenshot of what I see in BlueKenue.

Thanks and kind regards,
Thomas

Hi
This is linked to some precision problems and floating point management.
You should select double precision mesh or use option for local reference...

Hi,

thanks!
I shifted my coordinates to reduce the range of numbers and now the mesh is represented correctly. Editing nodes or elements now is fine.

But I have one question on the double precision mesh: Where can I select this option?

Hi
Look at the options when you create a selafin file.
In fact the shift could be managed at this level without any other action...

Hi Thomas,

The jitter problem experienced when visualizing submeter meshes was fixed about 3 years ago. Have a look at the latest...

Cheers... Martin
