TOPIC: Particle Visualization in BlueKenue

Particle Visualization in BlueKenue 2 years 6 days ago #40403

Hello,

Is it possible to visualize particles over 2d or 3d output in BlueKenue? I know that this can be done in Tecplot, but I have not been successful in BlueKenue. For example, when I run the Telemac-3D example Particles, I can visualize the 2D results slf file in BlueKenue in a 2D window. When I load the t3d_particles.dat file however, it can only be viewed in the 1D view. I would like to be able to animate the particles on the velocity in the 2D view.

Thanks,
Taylor

Maybe it is as simple as turning "animation" on and pressing play? Not sure what you've tried... and if you have tried that, then please pass me the URL to the file that you're using and I can have a look. It may also depend on which version of Blue Kenue you are using... the released version, the most recent alpha version (about 1 year old now! eep!) or my development version (right up to date)

Kindly,
Alan

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I have tried animating, but this has not worked as the velocity and the particles are in different views (velocity in 2D, particles in 1D). I have attached the files I am using from Telemac's 'particles' 3D example.

I am using BlueKenue version 3.3.4, is this the alpha version or the development version? I am not sure.

Thank you,
Taylor

Hi Taylor,

Unfortunately Blue Kenue doesn't support the TELEMAC particle file format. It was one of those things eternally on the TODO list but was never implemented.

There is however a BK native particle file format called a PCL file.
Its format is very well defined in the manual appandix.
Someone may have written a file converter in the intervening years but i am not aware of such an effort.

The PCL format is the primary output file of the Blue Kenue integrated sediment transport model (PSed)

Sorry... Martin
