Hi,

I am attempting to create a very simple model where my mesh has a region of high density. I am following the instructions in the Blue Kenue reference manual (pg140), however when I go to generate the mesh, there is a uniform mesh created over the whole control volume.

Essentially my process is this:

1. Define the closed line geometry for the control volume (which is a simple 2D rectangle).
2. File>new>T3 Mesh Generator.
3. Drag the geometry into the outline child object of the newT3Mesh.
4. Define the closed line geometry in which I require a higher density mesh - this is a smaller rectangle located inside the larger rectangle. Drag this geometry into the Density object child in the newT3Mesh.
5. Right click on newT3Mesh in workspace, select properties, and click run.

This process creates a homogeneous mesh over the large rectangle, and doesn't alter the density inside the smaller rectangle, does anyone have any suggestions on what I am doing wrong? I cant seem to find where I define the Default Edge Length and Edge Growth Ratio for the smaller rectangle specifically.

Cheers

Danny

Hi,
I normally do this by two different methods

1)
To get a high density mesh in the smaller rectangle area, first use this small rectangle to create a uniform mesh of required element size, you may give the default edge length to the desired element spacing, and select "Resample Outline".

Use this mesh created by using the smaller rectangle as a sub-mesh to create the larger mesh.

2) Re-sample the smaller rectangle to the desired element spacing.
Use this re-sampled rectangle as hardline for the mesh generation.
Generate the mesh.

Both the method will give different meshes.
Try modifying the edge growth ratio, you will notice the variation in the mesh density.

Hope this will help.

Thanks Gourish, that seems to have sorted it.
