Hi

I have created a mesh that have elements of different sizes. So I have separated my domain in zones. The grid in each zone is different. So I have zones with a finer mesh and zones with a coarser mesh. My idea was to have less elements so the computation takes less time, since it is a big domain.

I used the so generated grid and interpolated it with the bathymetry and got the geometry file for Telemac. However, when I try to run the simulation is giving a problem with this file, it says:

returns with error code 256
Probably corrupt input files.

So I am not sure what I did wrong, because I have generated a geometry file before using a mesh with constant grid size and I didn't have any problem. So the problem is with this new mesh file, which I am attaching. Let me know any suggestions

Thanks so much

Viviana

Hi Viviana,

After viewing your mesh and running the Analyser
here are a number of observations...

1. You should allow the mesher to develop smooth transitions between the high and low density areas in your mesh.

2. There are a lot of "edge-spanning" elements in your mesh. You should
increase the density in these regions.

3. There is a single orphan element that I wasn't able to find.

4. The minimum element area is 0 at (2384,-6656_

5. The minimum exterior edge length is 0

Thanks so much for your help. I will create transition between the fine and coarse mesh. How can I run the analyser, so I can check the mesh by my self.

Thanks

Viviana

Hi Viviana,

"Edit->T3Mesh->Analyse Mesh"
or
there is a button on the T3 Mesh toolbar see "View->T3 Mesh Toolbar"

Cheers... Martin
