Dear Collegue,

first of all thank you a lot for the new version of Blue Kenue.
But I have a question which I did not find in the user manual:I would like to select all the mesh knot points of my generated mesh or of my result file, calculated by TELEMAC in order to see the attribute table of each point.I know how to do it for one point.I would like to compare the calculated values with mesures which have been taken in the same region. Thus I will know if my simulation is good enough or not.Is it possible to select all points to extract the attribute table or must I write a sub programm in TELEMAC which stocks the values in a table while calculating?
Thanks,

Hanna Lootens

Hi Hanna,

If it's a result file you can extract timeseries at a number of locations.
See "Tools->Extract TimeSeries->At Multiple Points"
This will generate a table of values that can be saved to a csv file.

If it's single frame (single timestep) t3s object you can save the data to an xyz file.

Hope this helps... Martin

BTW: it is best to post this type of question on the Telemac Forum so that everyone
can benefit from the discussion.

Hi,Martin!

Actually I am able to select several points by hand with the combination of SHIFT key and double click in the result file in order to visualize the values calculated by TELEMAC.I have to many points to select them all this way.I have tried as you said, but I got an error message:no point set available for selection.
Thus I want to know how to select the points in order to get rid of this message and to finally visualize the calculated values.
Thanks
Hanna

The tool "Tools->Extract TimeSeries->At Multiple Points"
expects a pointSet as input to define the locations.

So you have to first create a pointset

Hello,

You need at least one Pointset available in your Workspace to extract TimesSeries from Multiple Points.

To create a pointset from your mesh, you can select a variable of your SELAFIN object in the Workspace and save it as a *.xyz file.

Then open this new file. When you select your result object and try to use the Extract TimeSeries tool, a popup dialog will ask you to select the Pointset to use.

Benoît-Joseph

Hi Benoît-Joseph,

thanks for your help, but it only works for small meshes. My file is unfortunately to big.

Disregard my last post.Sorry.
It is possible to do it your way Benoît-Joseph, but with big meshes you have to be very patient.
Just for information: for 13721 knots you need to wait for round about 2 hours in order to get the table from Blue Kenue.BK needs that much time to find all the data and to put them into a table, thus you cannot use BK for anything else during this time.

Hanna

This approach is NOT recommended...

Depending on the size of your mesh this operation could take a LONG time and you could potentially run out of memory (on a 32bit machine) since you would effectively be loading the entire solution file into memory.
Even on a 64 bit machine you could run into trouble.

You say you want to compare the results to measured data, I suggest you create a pointset of only the locations where the measurements were taken.

Cheers... Martin
