BlueKenue: missing element edges b/w nodes 12 years 9 months ago #2042

The mesh generating tools in BlueKenue are producing odd results along a few closed softlines.

I am using triangulation results to resample my mesh boundary and all internal softlines.

(1) Some softlines are not being resampled correctly

(2) Element edges are randomly missing along 2 or 3 of the closed softlines.

I have attached an image showing the triangulation results and the original softline. The softline has a point spacing of approx 20 m and should be resampled at 75 m intervals based on the triangulation values.

The second image shows the mesh (grey) above the resampled softline (red). The resampled softline has node spacings ranging between 40 m and 100 m. The 8 red segments show the locations of missing element edges between nodes found on the closed softline.

Any insights as to the cause of or any potential solutions to these problems would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. We will.

We've ultimately solved the problem, but manually. It seems that if the distance between two boundaries (even if they are the same boundary) is less or the same than the density in the region then this type of error occurs.

We tracked down all our missing nodes/missing elements by comparing the ipobo file with the .ngh file in GIS and fixing the elements/nodes manually using TRIGRID. It worked; but was cumbersome for a 750,000 element mesh.

Any fixes within BlueKenue would be great. Thanks again.
