Hi, I'm having some difficult times with BlueKenue. I had a set of points in cartesian coordinates (x,y) but I want to add latitude and longitude data. In BlueKenue, I can't use the Spatial Tab to convert these coordinates, it's not working for me.

Someone knows how can I use the Spatial Tab or how can I import a file with latitude and longitude of these points?

Thank you.

Hi,

A few questions first before I know how to answer you...

The released version of Blue Kenue is 3.3.4. Which version are you using? What are the steps that you've tried? Any error messages? What part of the Reference Manual are you reading to obtain your steps?

Kindly,
Alan

Also, since Blue Kenue has many different file types, I'd also wonder exactly which file type you're trying to convert...

HINT: Search the Reference Manual for "Coordinate System" or "Spatial tab"

I'm using BlueKenue 3.3.4 and following the Reference Manual. The files that I'm using are one .xyz and one .i2s

I've tried to follow the manual, but I couldn't do the step on the image because the program didn't allow me to change.

You need to click the "Assign..." button and assign a co-ordinate system to your object since one has not (yet) been assigned.

But the manual says that assign a coordinate system does not convert points. Should I assign the system and then try to convert it?

I did what you say, assign and then convert. But I got this crazy points all over the screen... Do you know what this means? Is there something wrong with my data?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Correct... assign does not convert.

Blue Kenue has read in your data and has not (yet) been told what the co-ordinate system is and is treating your data as numbers in a cartesian co-ordinate system. Since it sounds like you know what co-ordinate system your data comes from, just assign the co-ordinate system. Imagine that "cartesian co-ordinate system" means "unknown co-ordinate system" and then you'll understand that you need to assign rather than convert at this point.

Note that there are only a limited number of co-ordinate systems that Blue Kenue currently supports, so your data will have to belong to one of the known and supported co-ordinate systems for this approach to work. If your data is not from one of these supported co-ordinate systems, then you'll have to think about how to make that so...

hhmm... you responded before I could respond.

For your case, you'll have to ensure that your data is from the co-ordinate system that you think it is from
