TOPIC: Issue with Geometry File

Issue with Geometry File 3 years 3 days ago #38415

Hi,

I am currently using BlueKenue 3.12.0 to create the geometry file needed to run my simulations.
After having interpolated the bathymetry to the mesh, I created a new SELAFIN object and added the bathymetric mesh as a new variable (bottom). I then mapped the bathymetry to the new object and I didn't encounter any issues.

The problem is that when I save my Selafin file and then reimported to BlueKenue, the structure of the mesh I had created changes completely and I haven't been able to figure out what my mistake is.

Thank you in advance.

Blue Kenue 3.12.0-alpha is not the most recent version freely available. Please try 3.12.1-alpha instead and let us know if you have the same issue(s)...

Kindly,
Alan

I'm not sure this is the case for you.

I've had something similar happening, you need double precision if you have a grid size < 1.0m. or shift your model using x-y shift function.

Hope that helps,

Patrick

Thank you very much for your quick replies.

I was able to solve the problem by shifting my model and saving it as double precision format.

Good afternoon,

I followed your suggestions and downloaded Blue Kenue 3.12.1-alpha. The grid size I am using is of 20 cm for the coarser areas and 5 cm for the finer ones, therefore I used double precision.
I tried exporting and then importing again the files on Blue Kenue and the issue seemed solver. Unfortunately though, the results file obtained by running my simulations has the same issue and I haven't been able to solve the problem.

Thank you in advance,

Federica

Hi,

Thank you for your patience. I believe that I have narrowed down the issue. When you save your file that version of Blue Kenue is adding some information into such that when you read that file back into Blue Kenue things go haywire.

In the file that is created, please delete the following:

:AttributeCount 1
:AttributeName 1 Computed Magnitude
:AttributeType 1 double
:AttributeCapacityHint 1 17132 # AJB: experimental

If that does not help, please let me know

Kindly,
Alan

If this does not solve the issue then please pass a small data file over to me and the steps you are using and I will follow your steps and investigate further...

Kindly,
Alan

Hi Alan,

Thank you very much for taking the time to look into this issue. Do you mean in the geomtry.slf file?

Best,

Federica

hhhmmm... I meant in the 2D triangular vector file (t3v) and now I realize you are using a selafin file. Maybe ignore my comment... and please pass me a small example selafin file with the steps to reproduce the error and I'll look. Likely related to what I'm fixing now...
