Thanks :)

I thought some users here are dealing with MIKE too, so just hope someone can share it (e.g. Scripts)

I would not ask this if I started doing my project with MIKE first. I have created a very good mesh with BK, and want to use it for MIKE later.

Still hope.. someone can share a script... otherwise I will find a solution at the end... and share it here..

Best Regards
Huy

Hi,

the Mike mesh (*.mesh) file is quite similar to the BlueKenue (*.t3s) file.
If you have to convert only one mesh and you wnat to define the boundary conditions later in Mike than you could use just an advanced text editor or Excel or something like that. Take the data from the t3s file and rearrange them according to www.xmswiki.com/wiki/SMS:MIKE_21_*.mesh

Hope this helps,
Clemens

Dear telemac users i import my mike21 mesh. but i am not sure if i define the boundary conditions right. i want to define wave height and wave period from NE boundary. In tutorials they usually create mesh, boundary conditions import bathymetry. I can do these things in MIKE Zero. But i want to run it in telemac. am i doing this right in the attached file?

Dear Ali,

The boundary condition definitions are quite different when comparing MIKE21 SW and TOMAWAC. By default even if you define open boundaries the way you do in MIKE, TOMAWAC will consider the boundary conditions constant in space and time (i.e. you can define only a single value of Hmo, fp, MWD etc). In order to do something similar to MIKE you have to set the Limit Spectrum Modified By User = TRUE, and program the subroutine limwac.f to account for varying wave conditions along predefined nodestrings.
You can find plenty of implementations of limwac.f in the forum and the examples, suited for temporally and spatially varying wave conditions to aid in your task.

Kind regards,
Andreas

Hi I get the same problem with Blue Kenue. I can import MIKE21 mesh well but when i try to define boundary conditions BK shuts itself down. Do you have another version of Blue Kenue with MIKE21 mesh importable one? My version is 3.11.9 (64bit)

I get the same problem when i create t3 mesh.

Thank a lot.

I would humbly suggest that posting so many messages will not get you help any faster than posting 1 message... perhaps there was an error in the open Telemac forum that caused this repeated posting?

In any case, the released version of BK is 3.3.4. Anything else is either an alpha or a beta version.

If you would like us to investigate your issue and provide a BK that meets your needs then please send me a message and we can discuss this further...

Kindly,
Alan

Forgot to mention... 3.11.12-alpha is the most recent BK

Hello,

what I wrote some years ago in www.opentelemac.org/index.php/kunena/blu...sh/reply/35561#25215 still holds since the structure of Blue Kenue t3s mesh files and MIKE mesh files are very similar. Maybe in the meantime DHI changed also a bit the structure in his ASCII mesh file, who knows.

Furthermore some advises, which at least I follow:

1. Unless you need some new, not much tested, functionalities in recent alpha beta BK versions, stick to the offical release.

2. If you import something in Blue Kenue, then save the object in a Blue Kenue native format before doing any operations. Especially I would recommend this for meshes from other solvers and ESRI shape files.

3. Analyse the mesh in Blue Kenue. Some meshes have degenerated elements, elements with zero areas, or something else. If so, then repair the mesh before doing any operations or even doing simulations.

Hope this helps,
Clemens
