Hi,

I'm running Telemac3D v9.1 coupled with AED v1.2 + salinity and temperature.
I've disabled any atmospheric exchange, but for some reason the water temperature keeps increasing at a constant rate during the simulation. In contrast, the salinity seems fine.
I kept the ACCURACY FOR DIFFUSION OF TRACERS : 1.E-15 to make sure it's not some numerical issue.
Could there be some mix-up in the coupling tracer list?

any idea would be welcome,
thank you !

Hello,

If you activate the coupling between TELEMAC-3D and AED2 (WATER QUALITY PROCESS = 13 in the TELEMAC-3D steering file), water/atmosphere exchange are taken into account. I do not understand what you mean by "I've disabled any atmospheric exchange".

Hi Chi Tuan,
I meant it in the sense that I did not include an atmospheric data file.
Is there a default solar flux that applies instead?

Hello,

Indeed, default values are applied to atmospheric data, see keywords:
- WIND VELOCITY ALONG X = WIND VELOCITY ALONG Y = 0 m/s,
- AIR TEMPERATURE = 20 degrees C,
- VALUE OF ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE = 100,000 Pa,
- RELATIVE HUMIDITY = 50 %,
- CLOUD COVER = 5 octas,
- RAIN OR EVAPORATION IN MM PER DAY = 0 mm,
- SOLAR RADIATION = 160 W/m2.

If you really want to deactivate water/air exchange but keep AED2 coupling, you have to modify Fortran files (e.g. comment the calls to CALCS3D_THERMICS in bord3d.f + what you want in calcs3d_aed2.F).

Hope this helps,

quick followup,

I also have salinity in the simulation, which, without activating AED, causes stratification. But it seems that when I activate aed, there's no change in density.
I successfully ran the same setup with WAQTEL eutro where the density was handled in Telemac3D by adding these lines to my t3d.cas file:
NUMBER OF TRACERS = 2
NAMES OF TRACERS : 'TEMPERATURE C ';
'SALINITY G/L'
DENSITY LAW = 3

When I try to do the same with AED, I get a segmentation fault error:
Backtrace for this error:
DEALLOCATING AND REALLOCATING %R OF TEMPAE 3227 1 1

I notice that the density calculation is commented out in calcs3d_aed2.F (not my own edit).

Is there another way to have Telemac3D handle the density calculation when running with AED?
