open TELEMAC-MASCARET The mathematically superior suite of solvers

Hi everybody,

I am dealing with my results and the UV velocity and the UVW velocity, I have interesting results when I run with large time step such us Hour. But more I decrease the time step more the vectors are pretty unpredictable. I would like to know:

1. is a vector of a time step of an hour the mean of those hour's vectors or the exact value at this time (for a point /node ) ?

2. by the way which parameter can be activated or deactivated to have the opposite of the effect previously mentioned?

I'd suggest checking the documentation; either the Blue Kenue Reference Manual of the OpenTelemac documents. And let us know what you've discovered. Alternatively, create a very simple example and share it with everyone; along with the exact steps that you've tried. For example, are you using a single precision or double precision slf file?

the topic is velocity exact or mean value, even if I did create a table comparing some values at different time steps... it is for heights , sorry ... I have to do it for velocities ,but to not forget, I share with you my remarks,...





1. time step influence the results at least at the level of the millimeter (mm)
2. for short time comparison like minute, the mean (average) is slightly different from the exact values but for long time comparison (hour) the mean (average) is totally different from the exact value computed by the model.
3. as the computation is about sea level , from harmonic sources TPXO, we cannot speak in terms of average/mean but in terms of interpolation (formula) depending on the equations of the harmonics, or on the harmonic database, or on the interpolation of the time scale of the harmonic database.
4.So the answer of my question seems to tend to : the value computed is the interpolating values from exact values of the harmonic database.

Thanks for following up; it sounds like you want details about OpenTelemac rather than Blue Kenue, per se. I'd suggest following up in the other forum sections about that.

Of course, if you believe that Blue Kenue is not presenting OpenTelemac results properly, then please follow up here!
