Hi! My aim is to post-process the output of Telemac 6.3.2 with Paraview 3.14.1. I am testing the waters with the Malpasset example provided with the software. The avenue I am exploring is to use the sel2vtk_new tool to generate the vtk files.

I manage to produce the vtk files.

At the time of importing the vtk files in Paraview, though, a dialogue mask shows up asking me to pick a correct reader for the file among several ones. Such a dialogue window is shown in the clip attached.

Question 1: Which is the correct reader?
Question 2: Is there documentation available on how to best import and manipulate the telemac content in the vtk files?

Thanks in advance for helping me out.

Giordano

The answer seems to be ASCII. As one opens the vtk file with a text editor, the missing clue appears:

I also came across a hint of it in this post

So far so good then!

Hi
Did you try to update paraview?
On my computer, I use the version 4.3.1 on windows and when I open a telemac vtk file I have no message box, the file is directly open in paraview

Hi! I haven't because this old post provided enough arguments not to venture into the attempt.

The issue that I am facing now is that the converted slf file (and read in as ASCII) does not appear to contain any data:

But I will open a separate thread soon, as I gather more evidence about this.

Correction This one snapshot replaces the one above. A difference is visible in the values in the information tab.

The values were NA because I took the snapshot before 'applying' the vtk object loaded in the pipeline browser. Now the vtk object has been applied. The previous observation still holds: the vtk object appears to contain no data.

Work in progress.

The old post deal with the compilation of paraview in order to directly integrate the telemac reader...
If you use the vtk converter, there is no specific needs to compile a custom version of paraview. You could use it directly...
