TOPIC: Improving mesh quality

Improving mesh quality 4 years 5 months ago #34915

Hi,

I'm simulating flow in a 10m long channel in two different test cases, one with a mesh element size of 1cm and other 3cm. The simulation runs without error, but there are unrealistic results with 1cm mesh compared to 3cm mesh. Upon checking the mesh quality in Telemac, I'm getting the following error (screenshots attached). How to improve the mesh quality in either BlueKenue or any other method?

Many thanks!
Ananth.

Hi,

I have the same question. Have you got a solution?
I created selafin mesh by BK and simulated one case. But it reported one error "POINT 24177 appears on 2 different boundaries wrong mesh". I suppose this is due to over-constrained nodes, how could we eliminate over-constrained elements in BK?

Regards

Hi
This is not the overconstrained nodes in this specific case but a node which belongs to 2 different boundaries due to the existence of buildings...

This is visible on the mesh capture, Third building starting from bottom-right when you go up with the large building in the middle...

Hi,
Thank you for your help.

I've tried to set outlines of buildings as hardlines, well, there were lots of hollows in the mesh around buildings. So softlines were applied instead, as you can see from the screenshot, mesh wasn't generated exactly following the boundaries of buildings, which led to the error. May I ask how can we address such issue?

Hi
Use a finer criteria to ensure the quality of the mesh
