So too mak sure that i use the correct wind coefficient:

the value of the wind = 4m/s in my case, consequently the value of the coefficient of wind influence will be: 0.565.10-6?
Is that right?

Hello all,

I ran two different models, find attach the cas file, the only difference between them is the key word: OPTION FOR WIND. In one case the value was 1 and the other case the value was 3. The wind velocity along X and Y have been define in blue kenue (creation of new closed line, then mapped to the mesh).

Then I compared the velocities value and direction of these two models with a third one in which no wind is taking into account.

1. In the case where OPTION FOR WIND = 1, I observed any differences on the velocity (value and direction) compare to the model with no wind. In this case, it might be better to just define the wind value along X and Y directly in the steering file.

2. In the case where OPTION FOR WIND = 3, the velocity has not been created, an error appeared even if the model ran to the end... I understand that the option needs a subroutine file.

However, It is easier for me to use Blu kenue to change the wind value in space (and not in time). I would like to understand why in the first case the wind defined in blue kenue is not taking into account when i run the selafin file in Telemac. Can someone help mep lease?

Regards

Hi Jonathan

I would advise you to take few minutes to read the various documents to well understand all the options...
Using option 1 means using values from the steering file, if you don't change fortran file, the wind data of your meteo file are not taken in account.
Option 3 doesn't need a subroutine file except for some specific case. You say an error appeared but what kind of error?
One of possible cause of trouble is in the name of the variables in your wind data file vs the name Telemac are looking for. In this case, you could edit the file meteo_set_var_names.f to check and eventually change the name

Hi,

Thank you again for your answer.Do

I wrote in the steering file:
WIND = YES
OPTION FOR WIND = 3
COEFFICIENT OF WIND INFLUENCE = 0.678.10-6
THRESHOLD DEPTH FOR WIND = 1

This is what i added in the steering file and the error for all time step is -1.#IND for both value and direction.

You didn't declared an ATMOSPHERIC DATA FILE...
Where is your wind data?

Morning,

I managed to run it.

But my question is: When i defined in blue kenue a varying coefficient friction in space, it was taken into account when i ran the telemac model.

Why, when i defined a varying wind (along X and Y) in blue kenue its not taking into account when i ran the model in Telemac?

Hi
Friction is considered as a potential part of the geometry file if the variable exists
Wind is not considered to be a part of the geometry as you could use the same geometry in different wind condition. So wind file should be declared as a specific file linked to atmospheric data like pressure or air temperature

As I imagine you have your wind in the geometry, I think you could just also declare your geo file as the atmospheric data file

But in blue kenue you can define the wind as a part of the geometry file too like the friction coeeficient... So what is the advantge of the wind option in Blue kenue if it cant be used in Telemac?
