TOPIC: Mesh generation with straight lines

Mesh generation with straight lines 5 years 2 months ago #32943

Hi,

I'm generating mesh on a rectangular channel using closed line and open lines. I could only approximately draw lines along the boundaries as shown in the picture. I want to know if it is possible to generate mesh with straight lines (or rectangular shape) instead of picking points while creating closed line. As I see, the results such as water depth and velocity are not produced along a straight line on the boundaries but rather follow the nodes on the closed line. Any help regarding this would be great. Thanks!

Hi,

it's fairly simple you could draw a retangle (closed line) of approximately the size you want and when you have the 4 corners exit the drawing and give it a name. Now you can double click on it and then right click on a corner and select «edit selected point» and give exact coordinates.
Alternatively you could save and edit the .i2s file in any text editor.

Hi EnGlobe, it does work. Thanks!

Also, is the length of domain mesh element (T3mesh) controlled by 'Default Edge length' or 'Density'? I'm assuming we define the length of elements by 'Default Edge length' in meter, is that correct?

It's actually controlled by both. The Density is the element size in an area, you can refine or enlarge in areas. The edge length is in meters (or the unit you work in).
Do you have de tutorial for BlueKenue (it's all in there).
