Hi:

I use bluekenue to calculate the Q of section through u*h+v*h , the result file is from the tutorial on the use of telemac2d hydrodynamics model, please see the section in picture followed.

The result of Q has a big fluctuation as the picture showed in black box, is it suitable and if there were the same situations in other calculation? Besides, is there any areas requiring attention in getting Q through the calculate u*h+v*h?

Thanks

Hello,

I think BlueKenue do not perform a projection but simply integrate a scalar (in your case the discharge flowrate in m²/s).
This leads to overestimate the flow if the velocities are not perpendicular to the cross-section.
Telemac can compute Q directly and is equal to H*sqrt(U²+V²).

Luc

Hi,

in Blue Kenue you should compute U*H and V*H and under Tools-> Create Vector Field create the vector field with both the computed variables. Then you can integrate it along a given line. This gives almost the same discharge as the Telemac internal function for discharge computation trough control sections.
If you have such a non-smooth hydrograph still, I suspect you should revise your steering file... time step, etc.

Hope this helps,
Clemens

Hi,

I tried the same so that I could read out the cross sectional flow for my model but the option Create Vector Field is not clickable in my case.
What would be the best way to read out the flow along a cross section?
