TOPIC: Missing sediment class in constant sediment inflow

Missing sediment class in constant sediment inflow 2 months 1 week ago #44301

Hello everyone,

I'm running a 2D simulation with constant sediment input in a straight channel. I bumped into something rather perplexing and wondered if anyone had an answer/solution.

In my simulation, I had 5 classes of bedload sediment with a proportion specified for each class. However, when it's running, the sediment load for the fifth class of sediment had been 0 throughout the 200hr run (and thus the total load, 0.0031 kg/m-s was slightly lower than the specified value, 0.0035 kg/m-s; see log file).

My question is: Has anyone experienced this? Is there any setting that I mistakenly put to trigger this disparity?

I attached the hydrodynamics cas file (t2d_5CL_SE_SS1_a8_hp-const.cas), morphodynamics cas file (gai_5CL_SE_SS1_a8_hp-const.cas), and a screenshot of the log file (log.png).
Any insight will be really appreciated!!

Thank you,
Jason

Sorry to double post...

Just to add some info... the channel is a 1m wide, 16.5m long flume. I used the bedload formula by Engelund and Hansen (Chollet and Cunge version). I checked the Shields parameter of the initial time step and it was about 0.076, which was higher than the critical shear stress, 0.06, and was supposed to give some sediment discharge. I have not been able to fine why the largest sediment class was missing.
