Hi,
I'm trying to study the evolution of the seabed during a tsunami along the coast, therefore I couple my tsunami simulation (T2D model) with GAIA. However, when I checked the "bottom evolution" variable, the result is zero at all time steps.
I'm not sure if I defined the Gaia's steering file correctly, so If anyone could give an idea of what I'm doing wrong, I'd appreciate it.
Find attached all files required to run this case.
Thank you in advance.
Cheers,

Tomas

Hi,

Not sure what changes you are expecting in 15min. I ran your model and water elevation changes, velocities and more important shear stress is very low. The hydraulic forces are not sufficient to move any sediment and therefore no bed changes.

Hope that helps,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Thank you for your answer.
It makes a lot of sense not to see any changes in a short time and especially if waves are not strong enough to move the sediments. Now, I increased the number of time steps, length and width of the fault (real case) in the tsunami setup to simulate stronger waves, however, when I run the model it exceeds the maximum interactions and the relative precision shows NaN values. I tried different schemes of velocities following some discussions in this forum but none worked. The hydrodynamic model works fine, but not when coupled with GAIA.
Find attached all files and a log with the error.
Thanks again and have a good one.
Cheers,

Tomas

Hi,

I'm still trying to run a sediment transport triggered by a tsunami. Now, I increased the area of the mesh to test a new case and achieved a simulation with only suspended load. However, when I checked the BED EVOLUTION result, it showed this showed variations only in a small area, as shown in image 1. I would expect there would be widespread variation across all small bays following a similar pattern of the BED SHEAR STRESS result, but this wasn't the case. What could be the reason for this? Do I need to modify something in the steering file?
On the other hand, I still can't run the model using bedload or both together. Starting at iteration 360, modelling starts by exceeding the maximum iterations and then displays the NaN values. My model uses a TIDAL FLAT option, so following the manual's recommendations and some posts on this forum, I tried 13 or 14 for the SCHEME FOR ADVECTION OF VELOCITIES/ K-EPSILON, but it didn't work. Also, I tried the other options and got the same problem. Any recommendations on what I might have been doing wrong would be a great contribution to my project.
Please find attached all the files needed to run my problem.
Thank you in advance,
Cheers

Tomas
